As novas tecnologias possibilitaram a criação de novos produtos, como aconteceram com os alimentos geneticamente modificados, os transgênicos, que surgiram para melhorar a qualidade dos alimentos, e a segurança desses é questionada pela população e pelos estudiosos, pois ainda não existem estudos conclusivos sobre os benefícios e malefícios, sendo assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi identificar qual o conhecimento dos alimentos transgênicos entre os gêneros masculino e feminino. Foi realizado um estudo transverso quantitativo descritivo, com aplicação de questionário entre ambos os sexos, em um supermercado de Barra do Garças – MT, com os resultados obtidos foi elaborado gráficos e tabela. Foi encontrado que o gênero que mais conhece os alimentos transgênicos é o feminino com 57% em comparação com o masculino 53%, em relação à saúde o sexo feminino respondeu que os transgênicos podem trazer malefícios (73%) em comparação com o masculino que foi 63%. Portanto essa pesquisa mostrou que a região de Barra do Garças – MT conhece em partes o que significa alimentos transgênicos, e o que eles podem causar no organismo, mesmo que com varias deficiências, sendo importante passar mais informações sobre o assunto nutrição.
New technologies have enabled the creation of new products, as happened with genetically modified foods, that have emerged to improve the quality of food, and the safety of these is questioned by the population and scholars, because there are still no conclusive studies on the benefits and harms, therefore, the objective of this work was to identify the knowledge of transgenic foods between male and female genders. A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study, with questionnaire application between both sexes, in a supermarket of Barra do Garças – MT, with the results obtained was elaborated charts and table. It was found that the genus that best knows the transgenic foods is the female with 57% in comparison with the male 53%, in relation to the health the female sex answered that the transgenics can bring malice (73%) compared with the male who was 63%. Therefore, this research showed that the region of Barra do Garças - MT knows in parts what it means transgenic foods, even if with several deficiencies, being important to pass more information on the subject nutrition.
