The present research aimed to analyze the challenges in implementing literacy practices in CMEIs (Municipal Early Childhood Education Centers) in Barra do Garças, MT, with the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement in literacy development for 4 and 5-year-old children. The relevance of this scientific research lies in literacy for the comprehension of oral and written language, where literacy practices should begin in early childhood, a highly relevant topic that can contribute to educators in the CMEIs and Preschools of Barra do Garças, MT. To achieve the proposed objectives, a methodological approach was adopted consisting of Descriptive-Exploratory research with a quantitative-qualitative method, the application of an online questionnaire, and bibliographic research supporting the subject, aiming for significant results. The final considerations of this study are fundamental in understanding literacy practices in Early Childhood Education classrooms.
