Desde os princípios da humanidade a preocupação com a saúde é fundamental. Ao longo dos anos a produção de medicamentos cresceu de forma avassaladora em todo o mundo e a alta produção de medicamentos levou a um consumo exacerbado e irracional por parte de diversas pessoas. Portanto este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a automedicação por idosos, no qual foram aplicados questionários e deles foram retiradas várias informações desses indivíduos, no qual a grande maioria apresentou ensino médio completo e que fazem consumo de medicamentos diários com prescrição médica, e também consumo inadequado de alguns medicamentos por intermédio da automedicação, provocando danos ao organismo e podendo levar a quadros de morbimortalidade e prejudicar o bem estar e a qualidade de vida dos pacientes, portanto a atenção farmacêutica é fundamental na garantia de vida e no bem estar do paciente, visto que ajuda a reduzir o consumo exacerbado e racionalizar medicamentos.

Since the beginnings of humanity, the concern with health is fundamental. Over the years, the production of medicines has grown overwhelmingly around the world and the high production of medicines has led to an exacerbated and irrational consumption by many people. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate self-medication by the elderly, in which questionnaires were applied and various information was taken from these individuals, in which the vast majority had completed high school and who consume daily medications with a medical prescription, as well as inadequate consumption. of some drugs through self-medication, causing damage to the body and which can lead to morbidity and mortality and impair the well-being and quality of life of patients, so pharmaceutical care is fundamental in guaranteeing the life and well-being of the patient, since that helps to reduce exacerbated consumption and rationalize medicines.
