Trata- se de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo, qualitativo do tipo descritivo e explicativo realizada com pais residentes na cidade de Pontal do Araguaia-MT, realizada através da aplicação de um questionário com perguntas objetivas e discursivas, abordando a importância da participação da figura paterna no pré-natal. Os participantes assinaram o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido após terem sido informados sobre os objetivos, métodos, risco e benefícios da pesquisa. A pesquisa teve o objetivo de observar o motivo pelos quais o pai deixa de comparecer nas consultas de rotina de pré-natal, e os obstáculos que são encontrados no decorrer da pesquisa diante da participação do pai, de modo que foram indagados se conheciam a importância de sua participação. 15 pais participaram da pesquisa, os participantes foram identificados pela inicial P e o número correspondente a pesquisa. Os enfermeiros devem realizar o acolhimento buscando compreender e também incentivar e informar aos pais dos seus direitos como participantes nas consultas, promovendo o vínculo no binômio mãe-feto.
