Taking into account that Brazilian beef cattle farming contributes significantly to the national GDP, being one of the country's main economic activities. The present work has as its methodology a bibliographical and exploratory research, using a qualitative and quantitative approach on strategic management in agribusiness, with the objective of evaluating the perception of rural producers in relation to strategic management and administrative tools of SWOT matrix and 5W2H, as well as how their application can contribute to improving results in beef cattle far-ming, considering factors such as productivity, quality and profitability. The research concludes that rural produ-cers leave the strategic planning of their activity in the background, but they have objectives and indicators for evaluating defined results, which shows a certain concern in making decisions based on data. The application of the SWOT matrix proved to be efficient in assisting in the management of rural properties, while the 5W2H tool is a complementary tool to planning, as using this tool it is possible to have an action plan to achieve objectives and development of the property's operating strategy. With a highly competitive market, the planning of rural properties gains great relevance, making visible a demand for administrators specialized in strategic management of rural companies to support the management of properties, in order to guarantee the company's maintenance in the market, given the complexity aspect of this type of business and its economic importance
